Friends’ talks are held on Sundays at 2pm in the Education Centre in the Garden. Friends’ events are generally free to members of the Friends; donations are welcome from others. For bookings or any questions you might have, please e-mail email@example.com.

Angela Montford. In the Garden Shed: Old Tools and Gadgets. From the wheelbarrow to the hosepipe, an illustrated survey of the usual tools and gadgets we have used and improved in our gardens since the Middle Ages.

For West End Christmas week, the Friends are offering young children a magical evening walk through the Garden on Friday December 8th, where they can meet some of the fictional and mythical creatures who "live" there. You may book this event at:

Ease into ’18. On Tuesday 2nd January at 11am and until 1pm there will be a 5k fun run around the paths of the University Botanic Garden to get yourself in shape for the New Year. The event caters for all ages and ambitions, just walk or break the record! Your reward, as well as a good time, will include seasonal refreshments in the glasshouse at the end of the run.

Alasdair Hood, Curator & Clare Reaney, Horticultural Technician: Exploring the Alpine Lakes of the Mercantour National Park in France. A seed collecting expedition together with Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh and Glasgow Botanic Garden, which the Friends helped finance.
