Minutes of the Committee meeting held on 22nd November 2017
at 6.00 pm in the Education Centre

Present: Mark McGilchrist (Chair), Donald Hay (Vice-Chair), Lynne Duncan, Alison Gordon (Secretary), John Gordon (Treasurer), Alasdair Hood (Curator), Tricia Paton, Colin Robertson (Membership Secretary), Frances Tait (Honorary President), Margot Watt, Diana Robertson.
Apologies: Wendy Saywood.
The arrival of Diana Robertson on the Committee means we are now almost at full strength.
Minutes and Actions of the Meeting of 11th October 2017
The minutes were sent prior to the meeting and were accepted by the Committee.
The chair will attend the next meeting of the UK Association of Friends of Botanic Gardens
Curator’s Report
A programme of 1 hour workshops is planned 2018, delivered by garden staff and others. These will be bookable through Eventbrite, and most will cost £5.
On 12 December there will be an apple tree pruning workshop given by Andrew Lear.
A series of garden trails of different lengths and focus is being developed.
A new illustrative map of the Garden has been commissioned.
A 6-hole putting course is planned for summer 2018, to coincide with the Open Golf at Carnoustie.
The Friends are working with the Garden to offer evening opening for 3 successive months during summer 2018, staffed by 1 or 2 members of the Friends.
To promote the health benefits of the Garden, the curator and Friends will investigate the option of social prescribing for local GPs
Power of Plants day, including Friends’ plant sale, is likely to be 19th May 2018, and the annual fun run on 17th May.
Treasurer’s Report
There was little change in the finances from the previous month.
The Friends will offer two events this Christmas, one for young children and the other, a fun run at New Year, for all ages.
River line Project: All nine homeowners have now expressed support for the project.  Following this agreement there will be further discussion with other interested parties, including the Council.
Anthology Project: All reports of meetings of the various groups, plus contributions to date now appear on the Anthology blog at Further suggestions are being followed up.
